Background

For years, I’ve been installing and uninstalling apps. While some of these have served me well over time, others proved to be mere hype. Naturally, this largely depends on the specific use case and the required level of automation. The apps I’ve adopted each year collectively reflect my subjective workflow. While I cannot retroactively gather data from previous years, starting today, 14.09.2025, I will begin meticulously documenting all installed and uninstalled apps, along with the specific reasons for each action.

Why do I do that?
The primary motivation for this endeavor is personal. I frequently encounter the frustration of trying to recall applications I’ve seen on YouTube or those recommended by colleagues, struggling to remember their names or their installation locations on my computer. A common scenario involves recalling an app’s name but being unable to pinpoint its whereabouts. Furthermore, I occasionally forget that I’ve previously used an application, leading to a redundant re-installation, only to recognize its interface and conclude that it’s not suitable for my needs. My aim is to mitigate these recurring issues by systematically collecting data and recording my analyses. I hope this compilation proves beneficial to others and, in the future, could potentially serve as a basis for academic research to explore problems within human-computer interaction, or at the very least, stimulate valuable discussions about software tools.
